Day 2 at The USCSA Nationals!!

Today was a great day on the Mountain of Sunday River. It was a blue bird, 60-degree day. The parents couldn’t of asked for a better day. The men however had their first day of GS in slush. The conditions were extreme, nevertheless the Olaf boys excelled to the top with the conditions. After the first run St. Olaf had 4 of their five guys in the top 22, with the two Norwegian in the top 10. Congratulations to Haakon Schoenheyder for his THIRD place finish. He had an amazing race edging out Pål Añdre Prøitz to become the top Norwegian at St. Olaf College.

Next Pål Añdre Prøitz. He had a great first run ending up in 8th place. Second run Pål knew the team was in 2nd, all he had to do was finish. However, Pal has only one gear in ski racing, which is as fast and straight. Pal took a big fall second run near the bottom, scaring many Oles with only two skiers down safely. Nonetheless, Haakon came down the second run as the second fastest man in the race. Saving the Oles and helping them place SECOND in the GS for the second year in a row.

In addition, today was Senior Nick Stang and Max Lund last GS ever as Oles.  They came out and showed the world that they know how to ski. Nick and Max were both Second Team All American! Nick placed 12th and Max placed 16th.  The Olaf team will miss you dearly next year, on and off the snow.

Great race today boys!!!

Tomorrow is the ladies SL. It should be a great day of skiing. Check in tomorrow for more great information on the race!
