Freshman Faces: Pal Andre Proitz


Below is the interview with Pal Proitz, a transfer sophomore from Norway. I (Jeff Stamp) interviewed him in the busy cafeteria the night of the latest Harry Potter movie...

Where are you from?
Norway

What is your home mountain?
Tryvann

What year are you?
Sophomore, but 21 years old

What is your major?
economics

Why?
My dad has a business, and I might follow in his footsteps

What do you ski on?
Atomic

When did you start racing?
around 10 years old

What is your favorite event?
GS, for the speed

What do you like most about ski racing?
the speed, I like to go fast

What is your favorite place to ski?
Saas Fee, Switzerland...every year for 6 years starting from around age 9, I went with my father...its beautiful...like something out of a movie

How is dryland so far?
great, tough...Kevin is such a bad ass...

Now for some non-skiing questions...
Who is your greatest hero?
Aamodt, the Norwegian racer...I live close to him, have met him before, and raced against him once

What do you miss most about Norway?
I don't miss it much...I miss my family the most, but the US is very similar to Norway

Tell me more about Norway...
its beautiful...and yeah, surprisingly like here...the food is not better though...you have great food, I'll give ya that

What is you favorite music?
House

Yes

Are you and Genette going to be best friends?
definitely, yeah

What is your favorite non-skiing activity?
soccer

no, not yet

What is your favorite thing about Jeff Stamp?
the great way his mustache comes in

no, I don't
