We Are Going to Nationals!!!

Hey everyone!

This past weekend, after winning Divisionals at Spirit Mountain last weekend, the Oles were off to Marquette Mountain in Michigan. It was a great weekend for many people on the team. The drive to Marquette was an experience in itself.  We experienced one of the few snowstorms of the season. At one point, the vans spilt up because of the weather. However, thanks to technology and great driving skills, we all arrived in Marquette safe.

Saturday:

The first race was on Saturday was Slalom. It was a strong showing on the men’s side with St. Olaf taking 6 of the top 9 spots. Congratulations to Nick Stang for winning the race. Haakon Schonheyder had a solid finish taking second with Paal Proitz in third. Congratulations boys for winning the race!

(From Left to Right: Nate, Paal, Nick, and Haakon)

The women also proved to ski strong on Saturday as well. The women also won the race with great skiing from Katie Ulvestad (3), Madison McLachlan (4), Kathleen Stefely (5), Alex Anderson (6), MeKenna McNabb (8), and Miranda Ness (12).

Sunday:

Sunday was a great day for the Oles as well! Team Norway and Germany highlighted the Giant Slalom with 1,2, and 3. Congratulations to Haakon Schonheyder for winning the race! Paal Proitz took second place (again) and Florian Weil in third place.

On Sunday the women skied just as well as the day before. We had solid skiing from all girls on the team. Congratulations: Katie Ulvestad (2), Madison McLachlan (4), McKenna McNabb (5), Alex Anderson (10), Kathleen Stefely (15), and Stephanie Pieper (22).  This weekend consisted of great skiing with many solid performances by the experienced and new team members, which made for a more than satisfactory race for the ladies’.

With all the great skiing from the Oles this weekend. The St. Olaf Ski Teams were Regional Champions on both the Men’s and Women’s side. MEANING WE ARE HEADED TO NATIONALS IN TWO WEEKS IN SUNDAY RIVER, MAINE!

Thanks for your support this season! Please continue to follow the Ski Team, as we prepare for one of our highest anticipated Nationals in many years. It should be filled with great competition on the Men and Women side.

We need YOU!!!

Our team is very excited to introduce you to our very own giving page, right here on this blog!

In the upper right hand corner you see a yellow button that says "ChipIn" Clicking this button will bring you to our team's new fundraising page.
We only receive partial funding from the school's general fund, and so we rely on your generous support to build upon our successful tradition. Thanks to you, our team continues its legacy of success and we appreciate every dollar you give.

This season we are in need of you to help! We need to raise $5,000 to go to USCSA Nationals in Sunday River, Maine. Since our team created this new fundraising site, the money you give goes directly to our team! This new giving page is an attempt to show you just how big of a difference you are making for us. The idea is to give you the opportunity to choose things you'd like to fund. By giving to the school your money goes to next years ski budget. So please, help us! By giving to the blog NOW, you will be helping the St. Olaf Ski Teams continue one of their strongest seasons ever.

So, thank you! We appreciate everything that you do to make the St. Olaf Ski Teams possible.
